On Feb. 12-13, the second Centrum Force Rug Summit was held at
Modernistic’s new Rugology Center in Troy, Mich.

Modernistic’s Rugology facility
Over seventy-five attendees were entertained by demonstrations and
lectures on aspects of rug care and restoration. The two-day affair
presented an opportunity for people who care for rugs and use in plant washing
systems to share their experiences and knowledge of cleaning Oriental
rugs. Presenters included Certified Rug Specialists, Jeff Jones and Thea
Sand, both members of the prestigious National Institute of Rug Cleaners, a
division of the Restoration Industry Association. Jones is current
president of RIA.

The new emphasis on the care, restoration, and cleaning of area rugs
results from a shift in taste. Over the past decade, hard surface
flooring with area rugs has become more popular than wall-to-wall carpeting.
In order to provide a truly hands-on experience, Centrum Force founders,
Greg Turcotte and Tom Monahan, demonstrated their Centrifugal Rug Wringer
called the Centri-Maxx, which removes 95% of the water in just three
minutes. A fourteen-foot-wide automated rug duster, the first of its
kind, was also on hand. Other equipment demonstrations included a
portable Wolverine Rug Duster, a Centrum Star Rug Washing Tub and a sixty-pole
rug hanging system.

Robert Pettyjohn
Those present at this
year’s Rug Summit spoke glowingly of their experiences with the functional use
and quality of Centrum Force’s equipment.
