Tennant, Johnson Wax Professional Form Joint Venture

April 24, 2001
Minneapolis -- Tennant Co. and Johnson Wax Professional have formed a joint venture company, NexGen Floor Care Solutions(TM), which next month will introduce a multi-tasking floor cleaning machine and chemical system. This system is designed to reduce labor, eliminate expense and concerns associated with propane-powered equipment and improve the quality and consistency of cleaning results, according to the companies’ press release.

In addition to the machine, the NexGen system includes proprietary brushes, pads, floor cleaner, and floor finish designed specifically to optimize the performance of the innovative system. The system will also include full maintenance service and process support.

Johnson Wax Professional, a global marketer of hygiene and appearance products, will supply the chemicals, pads and provide technical support. Tennant will manufacture the machine and provide equipment maintenance, aftermarket parts and technical support.

NexGen will operate as a separate entity, with a separate dedicated sales force for the system. Initially, NexGen will focus its sales on end-users in North America. NexGen's distribution channels and plans for global expansion will be developed over time, following its North American success. Tennant Company is a manufacturer of floor cleaning machines, parts and accessories, as well as floor coatings.
