ProTeam is embracing a new carpet-cleaning testing protocol developed in a partnership of the Carpet and Rug Institute, NASA and private industry.
The XRF, or X-Ray Fluorescence, method used by the CRI uses a hand-held device to shoot a beam of energy into the carpeted surface to detect soil remaining after cleaning.
"XRF identifies and validates high-performance equipment and shows the specific impact on specific types of soils on specific types of carpet under specific conditions," according to a ProTeam statement. "It will facilitate cleaner, healthier environments because it is a truly scientific approach to assessing cleaning of carpet."
