Rug Summit IV Draws From Across North America

Rug Summit IV, held in Ann Arbor, Mich., Oct. 7-8 was "a resounding success." This year more than 70 attendees participated in the bi-annual event.



Rug Summit IV, held in Ann Arbor, Michigan October 7-8 was “a resounding success.” This year, over 70 attendees participated in the bi-annual event, hosted by Centrum Force founders Greg Turcotte and Tom Monahan. With presentations like “Making the Phone Ring Off the Hook,” “Creating an Effective Website and Search Engine Advertising,” and “Employing Affiliate Marketing to Sky Rocket Sales,” this  year’s fall conference put surviving and thriving in the current economic climate clearly in its crosshairs.

  Centrum Force partner Tom Monahan, commented that this year’s summit focused less on cleaning techniques and more on strategic marketing and business development.

“Since our first Rug Summit in September 2009, each successive conference has been aimed at helping rug washing professionals enhance their businesses. We especially geared this one to include real, tactical practices to implement during these economically challenging times. This wasn’t theoretical blather,” said Monahan, “There was something for everyone to put into action to increase business as soon as they returned to their shops.”

Top Drawer Slate of Professionals

An experienced roster of professionals made presentations to rug pros that gathered from all across North America. Howard Morris, a 35 year veteran of advertising and multimedia production, spoke on how to use video and TV advertising to project a clear identity and strong branding in the marketplace. Gary Arndts, owner of Blue Raptor, a company specializing in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the cleaning and restoration business, featured a compelling presentation about making your company’s website pull more response. Since consumers are increasingly looking on the Internet for home-related services, Gary explained the importance of pushing your website to the top of local Google (and other search engine) listings. He then revealed multiple techniques to make it happen.

  Centrum Force’s Greg Turcotte reviewed the best computer software to manage rug plant production, while My Partners 247 principal, John Brewer, presented on how to use Internet “affiliate marketing” to increase sales.

For Attendees "It hit the nail on the head"

For many attendees, the summit was exactly what attendees were hoping for. Armen Dohanian, of Dallas Rug Cleaners, stated, “Rug Summit IV was fantastic--it hit the nail on the head! The presenters were insightful and well spoken. Each did an excellent job of pacing their material so that the ‘simple rug cleaner’ could grasp even the most technical and complicated subjects. Greg and Tom put together an excellent lineup of speakers on topics that will help attendees gain a ‘leg up’ on their competition. There were no egos, just answers.”  

Relaxed Networking and Learning Opportunity

The relaxed atmosphere that Centrum Force generated at Rug Summit IV made it very easy to network and get to know other rug cleaners. Attendees got to share their problems and hear others’ solutions in a very friendly, relaxed and helpful atmosphere. “The mix of people and companies is really great,” said Bob Carr, owner of Carr’s Rug Cleaning in Knoxville, TN. “The chance to mingle with companies like Robert Mann from Denver, Brian Marantette from Ateyiah Brothers in Portland, Karl Heinrich from Bouchelle in Chicago, and Armen Dohanian from Oriental Rug Cleaning in Dallas, should not be missed. I look forward to the next one.”

Rug Summit V to be held in Denver in 2012

Rug Summit will be held in Denver on Thursday April 26, 2012, just one day prior to next year’s ARCS conference. “We think having a Rug Summit in close to proximity to an event like ARCS will make it possible for even more companies to participate,” explained Centrum’s Greg Turcotte.
