"As we develop strategic relationships with multinational corporations, it's vitally important to service business worldwide. Consequently, our global strategy is a very important part of our domestic strategy," said Mac Bridger, chairman of Tandus Group. "Ian's expertise in global business combined with his in-depth knowledge of our industry makes him the right person to put significant velocity into our strategy for growing our European business."
"With a focused and motivated European team, we can fully leverage the strengths of C&A as a provider of premium commercial products, assuring that the full potential of the European operation is achieved in the shortest possible timeframe," said Wolstenholme. "Utilizing Tandus' global connections, we can better service our European corporate customers while expanding opportunities from a local base, particularly the addition of annuity specified business to the existing transactional business as well as potential product sales from the Monterey and Crossley lines."
The company ventured into the European marketplace in 1988 when C&A began doing business in the United Kingdom. After a decade of successful growth through distribution, C&A moved into manufacturing through the acquisition of Advance Carpet Tiles, Ltd. (ACT), based in South Wales. A leading manufacturer of commission vinyl and Bitumen backing systems for European carpet producers, ACT currently provides a manufacturing and operations base for C&A's European and Asian businesses.
