MINNEAPOLIS- Tennant Company, a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing solutions that create a cleaner, safer world, today announced its sponsorship support of the Healthy Schools Campaign’s Quick & Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools. The Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC) is an Illinois-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting policies and model programs that support healthy school environments, including green cleaning in schools.

“Tennant Company has a long, proud tradition of environmental stewardship and sustainability that is evidenced in the products we manufacture and the actions we take every day to create cleaner, safer, healthier places to live, work, and play,” said Chris Killingstad, CEO of Tennant Company. “We are honored to be a part of the Healthy Schools Campaign and to continue to do our part to promote and advance healthy and sustainable schools.”

As a sponsor of the HSC, Tennant Company will help fund the launch of The Quick and Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools, a first-of-its-kind multimedia handbook that outlines five simple steps schools can take to establish and implement a green cleaning program. The handbook empowers schools to take immediate action by showcasing specific sponsor cleaning products that meet environmental standards such as those set forth by Green Seal, the Carpet & Rug Institute, and the EPA. The handbook was written in collaboration with Stephen P. Ashkin, president and founder of the Ashkin Group, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in greening the cleaning process.

“With an estimated 53 million students and five million staff members attending American schools every day-20 percent of the American population, it’s imperative that we do all we can to ensure their safety and well-being,” said Killingstad.
