MINNEAPOLIS-June 12, 2006-Tennant Co., one of the world's leading manufacturers of surface maintenance equipment, today announced that it has been named among the 100 best corporate citizens of 2006 by Business Ethics magazine. The list rates firms on their performance in eight stakeholder categories, including shareholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights, and product, and then ranks them according to those ratings. Tennant is 54th overall on the list, which also includes such companies as Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Intel, 3M, PepsiCo, and Citigroup.

"In a day and age of corporate scandals and ethical crises, it's a true honor for Tennant Company to be called out for the good we are doing to serve our shareholders, our employees, our customers, our communities, and our environment," said Chris Killingstad, CEO of Tennant Co. "I'm extremely proud of the tireless efforts of every Tennant employee, each of whom played a part in Tennant earning this recognition."

Among the eight categories rated by Business Ethics, Tennant earned its highest marks for its product quality and environmental efforts. The company has long prided itself on its commitment to product excellence-researching new technologies, gaining insights into customer needs, and rigorously testing new products-and environmental responsibility-consistently striving to achieve its mission of creating a cleaner, safer world by developing products that use less water and less chemical. In all eight categories, Tennant earned more points than the mean.
