In January, the Carpet and Fabricare Institute (CFI) completed its annual cleaning at the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda, CA. A special “thank you” goes to Larry and Cathy Snyder, of Magic Rug, and Terrance Jones, the Orange/Inland Empire chapter director.

Also in January, there was a chapter meeting at Paul’s Carpet Care in Wildomar, CA. Brian Pruitt from Basic Coatings did a demo with the Dirt Dragon, a wood floor cleaning machine, and Terrance Jones demonstrated how to do a bonded insert with the Cool Glide. In February, there was a meeting at Central California Cleaning Supply in Fullerton, where Shawn Forsythe spoke about Truckmount maintenance, scheduling and awareness. Melody David from the Dyers Guild did a demo on the basics of color repair using dye pens and also conducted a hands-on workshop.

Central Coast chapter director Josh Adler reports the meeting in February was very informative. Dr. Klein did a talk on how to stay healthy, fit, and make money. It was a great meeting on how to keep our bodies working hard and not get hurt. The members that were there asked a lot of questions on proper dieting and proper ergonomics to protect muscles and joints during our work day. And lastly, everyone enjoyed the free table massage that Dr. Klein provided.

Los Angeles chapter director James Casas reports that his “Meet & Greet” meeting in February was a fun time for all. Everyone got a tour of his cleaning plant and Casas explained how they do flame proofing of fabric and make their own protector.

• Experience members sharing ideas and knowledge with the younger cleaners and a lot of technical advice on cleaning: That’s what CFI is all about! There will be a meeting April 17 at 5:50 p.m. at Routley Inc. in Costa Mesa, CA. Tim Baker from Prochem will be the speaker.

• Daniel Eads from DKI, Palm Desert will be the new CFI Junior Director for the Inland Empire Chapter. Welcome aboard!

• Look for information for the joint Regional Education Day with CFI and CCINW at www.cleaningcollege.org. It will be held June 27-29 at the Grand Sierra Hotel in Reno, NV. There will be some big presenters such as Ed Cross, Patrick Moffett, Patrick Paluga, Lisa Wagner, Jim Pemberton and many more. Check out the website for more information and those dates.
