There's Got to Be an Easier Way

“There’s got to be an easier way,” you mumble to yourself as sweat drips from your soaked hair into your bloodshot eyes, producing a nice sting.

As you have figured out by now, there is no single magic cure to make carpet cleaning easy.

But we continue to look for anything and everything to make our jobs a little easier, or at least more productive. Let’s talk about some of them.

Super Strap

One of our continued challenges is hose handling. The Super Strap is designed to make hose handling chores easier then ever. This particular strap has no metal pieces, so there is less chance of damaging your customer’s home. It has several uses that make it extremely versatile.

When running the wands and power tools on the carpet we are continually dealing with the vacuum and pressure hose getting in the way. One unique use of the Super Strap is to strap the hose to your belt while running the cleaning tool (Image 1).

This gets it up off the floor so you don’t have to give it a kick every few seconds and takes away the drag you often experience when moving the wand and pulling against the hose.

Not everyone will feel comfortable initially with this application but most professionals love this new easy method of dealing with the hose while cleaning.

Secondary uses for the Super Strap include wrapping hose for carrying and storage, securing hose to baloneys for long vertical runs or strapping the hose to stair cases.

Handy Spotter

I am a believer in carrying a full spotting kit into the home on every job. It shows professionalism and shows the customer you are ready for anything.

You are less likely to skip an important spotting procedure if the spotting kit is near by.

Sometimes you’re working in the bedroom and the spotting kit is in the dining room. How handy would it be to have your two most-used spotters with you all the time? You would save steps and time.

This is where the Handy Spotter comes in. It can either clip onto you belt or strap right around your wand (Image 2). With a different spotter in each end you have a choice for quick spot removal.

This little device will also hold a Gum Getter or bone scraper. With a Handy Spotter you can carry two spot removers and a spotting brush/gum scraper in one easy-to-access container.

Groomer and Rake Holder

This is a small device that is a giant of an idea. If your van is not organized, your tools are hard to find or get dirty and damaged, your attitude probably gets messy as well.

Every day, you carry a Grandi Groomer, a pile/nap brush, a grout brush, a flat mop and perhaps more. That is at least four devices with handles on them that can get ruined when just haphazardly thrown into the van.

The Groomer and Rake Holder is a two-part device with one end, an open loop which is screwed on to a roof stud, and a clip, also screwed into the roof stud (Image 3). This allows the technician to stand at the end of the van, slide the handle into the looped end and clip the brush end into the clip.

You never have to get in the van, and this keeps your tools up on the ceiling and out of the way, ready for their next use. You’ve got to try this – insist your distributor get them.

Handy Hook

The new Handy Hook (Image 4) takes what is a good idea with the Hose Hook, which has been available for years and makes it even more user-friendly.

Getting the hose out of the way while cleaning stairs makes life that much easier; the original Hose Hook still does this but you must carry it separately and keep track of it.

The Handy Hook will perform the same function but, when not in use, the hook will fold into the strap and it can be stored on the hose or even the wand until needed.

This is one of those little things that make a big difference.

Shelf Hanger

Almost everyone has shelves in the van to hold chemicals and accessories. Did you know you could increase the capacity of these shelves in a big way?

Utilizing the Shelf Hanger (Image 5) you can now hang wands, hand tools, sprayers, rakes – just about anything, right on the shelves and up off the floor. These have been kept a secret but no more.

V-Jet Wrench

This wrench was made just for our industry. Many of the wands and tools have tight clearances that make changing the jets a real challenge. It is sometimes impossible to get an open-ended wrench into a position to fit on the V-Jet once in place; even many sockets sets will not fit into the restricted areas.

The V-Jet Wrench (Image 6) is made to fit both a 1/8” and ¼” V-jet and do it in restricted areas. If you have ever tried to change the jet on a Gekko tile cleaning tool, you understand the exact problem I am talking about. With the V-Jet Wrench – problem solved!

Well, for now, we’ve solved at least some of your frustrating issues. Knowing there is an easier way should lighten your step a bit and hopefully put that smile back on your face.
