Two floor covering industry retailers have been voted into the World Floor Covering Association Industry Hall of Fame, and were inducted at ceremonies during Surfaces 2002.

ANAHEIM, Calif.--Two floor covering industry retailers have been voted into the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) Industry Hall of Fame, and were inducted at ceremonies during Surfaces 2002.

Alan Greenberg, co-CEO of CCA Global Partners, Inc., and Louis A. Spano Sr., owner of Eldorado Carpet One in Broomall, Pa., both former chairmen of the Board of the Retail Floorcovering Institute (now the WFCA), joined the 27 industry luminaries already inducted.

The award for Spano, who died in November 2001, was presented posthumously.

Greenberg and Howard Brodsky founded Carpet Co-Op of America, now CCA Global Partners, in 1985. Greenberg was also instrumental in launching subsidiary units ProSource, Stone Mountain, International Design Guild, America's Carpet Gallery and Rug D¿r. The CCA co-CEO now joins Brodsky, who was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1992.

"Very few people have impacted the retail side of the business as much as Alan has," said Jim Gould, chairman of distributor Misco-Shawnee. "His forethought and creativity have created a far more professional, more knowledgeable retailer base. He had entrepreneurial spirit and vision to reshape the industry and elevate the professionalism of the floorcovering retailer."

In 1955, Lou Spano incorporated what is now Eldorado Carpet One in the Philadelphia area, and moved it to its current location in Broomall, Pa., in 1990. Like Greenberg, Spano was instrumental in the Retail Floorcovering Association, serving as chairman of the board in 1987-88. He was also a crucial leader of the Greater Philadelphia Floor Covering Association, having served at its president longer than anyone else.

He was active in the WFCA Past President's Council, and served on numerous WFCA committees.

"Lou was one of the most respected members of the floorcovering industry," said Dick Reidy, Reidy Carpet Consultants of Elmira, N.Y., and an RFI past chairman.

The WFCA (www.wfca.org) is the only organization with no vested interest other than the advancement of the entire floor covering industry, and the only organization that reinvests in the industry.
