The Carpet & FabriCare Institute’s carpet cleaning, mold remediation, and water damage restoration Symposium & Showcase held at the Torrance Marriott in Torrance, Calif. in July 2006 was such an overwhelming success that CFI has elected to return with a “New and Improved” Symposium for 2007.
The CFI San Diego chapter had a successful charity event with eight companies volunteering to clean the local Ronald McDonald House. Carpet was cleaned throughout the rooms, offices and hallways; tile and grout was cleaned in the bathrooms, laundry room and two kitchens; several area rugs were cleaned along with all the upholstered furniture in the rooms, offices and conference room.

chapter of the CFI recently held a chapter meeting featuring a presentation on
the new guidelines for carpet warranties from carpet mills Mohawk, Shaw and
Beaulieu beginning with carpet sold in 2007. There was much discussion and
speculation on how these new guidelines would play out over the next several
The CFI Central Coast Chapter recently organized an effort to provide charity cleaning to the Palo Alto, Calif. Ronald McDonald House. This charity cleaning effort brought the services of certified cleaning professionals, providing thousands of dollars in services to create a cleaner and healthier environment for the occupants and visitors.
CFI has been very busy. There was a recent Central Coast Chapter meeting hosted by Steve Gilsdorf of Carpet Maintenance Supply in San Mateo, Calif., with a barbeque dinner to all. Steve showed some new equipment, and Barry Costa, the guest speaker, presented the newest in fast-drying equipment. New members present were Armstrong Azah and Matt Cole. Special guests in attendance were Jim Farrer of DriEaz and John Holibaugh and Frank Kinmonth of Chemspec.
