In 1954 a small group of rug and upholstery cleaners led by Gene Jackson formed a non-profit association called the “Rug Cleaners Institute.” Their aim was to share their individual skills and knowledge about rug and fabric cleaning procedures.

If you are a business owner, you have traveled the lonely entrepreneur road long enough. Did you know that there are organizations for just about any profession or business to help you along, educate and assist you on your lonely travels?

During my recovery time, I had the pleasure of visiting the following CFI Associate Member locations of Central California Cleaning Supply: Sacramento, Fresno and Bakersfield.

After reading through old issues of Western Carpet Cleaner and Western Cleantalk, I can’t help but be again reminded of how much CFI has grown and changed since Gene and George Janssen, whom I’ve never met, founded the Rug Cleaners Institute back in 1952.
