From Burning Houses to Hot Slots: Recapping The Experience Convention & Trade Show

Event was held from September 4-7 in Las Vegas

November 1, 2013

The Experience Convention & Trade Show was held from September 4-7 in Las Vegas - and what a jam-packed few days it was.

Personally, Las Vegas is one of my favorite cities in the world to travel to. There's the atmosphere, great food, fun, active nightlife... oh, and waking up isn't too bad either...

On the first day of the show, Wednesday, Sept. 4, we were pleased to present a live courtroom theater presentation hosted by Ed Cross, otherwise known as "The Restoration Lawyer." Ed did a fantastic job carrying out a mock trial, where he, along with Barry Costa, Ron Reese, Charlie Cressy, Darren Hudema, O.P. Almaraz and Jeff Bishop all played fictional characters. Special thanks also goes to out Jim Holland, who served as the judge, and Jim Milne, our bailiff. And of course, thanks to everyone who attended, especially those who served on the jury.

If you happened to miss the event or just want to check it out for yourself (minor spoiler: you don't want to miss the end), we videotaped it. Stay tuned to ICSmag.com and we'll let you know how to check it out soon.

The show officially opened later, and Larry Cooper, Meetings and Events, said that the show, as a whole, was "just as big, if not bigger" than any other year. Also on hand were presentations on how to properly clean a Category 3 water loss, various campfire sessions throughout the hall and this real live fire house, which was burned out in the back parking lot of the LVH Hotel and Casino. Contents were also burned and restored later in the show in another hands-on demo:

On Thursday, Prochem threw a great party after show hours, which is also where Craig Kersemeier was awarded the Ralph Bloss Humanitarian Award. Following the party, Viking held a slot tournament back in the casino, which crowned several winners. The show wrapped on Friday and sessions ended Saturday.

Just a reminder that next spring's Experience Conference and Exhibition is moving away from its traditional event location of Clearwater Beach and to the Frisco/Dallas area in Texas.

It will return to Vegas September 3-5, 2014.
