LinkedIn. Twitter. Facebook. Instagram. Pinterest.

We’ve covered social media here before and how crucial it is to growing your business and attracting new customers, but according to a recent story on Buffer, it may be much more impactful than we all give it credit for.

Here’s a look at some surprising social media statistics of the past year:

·         The 55-64 year age bracket is the fastest growing demographic on Twitter, having grown 79% since 2012. No, social media isn’t just for the kids these days.

·         About 190 million Facebook users only use it from a mobile device.

·         YouTube reaches more adults (ages 18-43) than any cable TV network. Yes, adding video to your marketing strategy really matters.

·         Social media is the No. 1 activity on the Internet, having overtaken “adult entertainment” as the former No. 1 activity. Need we say more?

And perhaps the most eye-opening social media trend: It’s estimated that 93% of marketers use social media in some way for business purposes. Do you?
