You’ve likely already heard of – or own – the likes of a smart car or a smart thermostat.
But what about a “smart” floor? As in a smart hardwood floor?
Lauzon, a Quebec-based flooring manufacturer, has developed a flooring line that it calls “Pure Genius.” It claims it can make indoor air up to 85% cleaner.
How? Pure Genius is made of Titanium Dioxide, a light-activating, air-purifying agent that’s triggered by both natural and artificial light. After it’s activated, it breaks down VOCs and other harmful contaminants upon contact and transforms them into harmless molecules. Pure Genius is being dubbed by Lauzon as “the world’s first smart hardwood floor.”
According to the company, having Pure Genius installed in the home is like having three trees indoors. It’s also said to minimize household odors and make cleaning easy due to its hydrophilic design. What’s more is Lauzon says it looks just as good as any other hardwood floor.
