In Review: The Experience Day 2

April 26, 2014

Experience montageThe second day of The Experience Conference and Exhibition in Frisco, TX kicked off the same way that the first day did – with learning and education. Chuck Boutall moderated a team of experts at the flood house to present hands-on water damage restoration demonstrations, while David Hart, RamAir, presented on the benefits of adding duct cleaning to your cleaning business and Larry Cobb, Cobb Carpet Supply, presented on specialty spot cleaning of Oriental and area rugs.

Next up were the two keynotes, featuring Michelle Prince, America’s Productivity Coach, who presented on overcoming procrastination to do more in less time with business. J.B. Hill, Napoleon Hill’s grandson, was next, presenting on how to harness the mind to overcome fear and change behavior.

After lunch, there was more learning and education. Doyle Bloss, HydraMaster/U.S. Products, presented on determining the potential of your marketplace. Dave Dybdahl, ARMR Network, presented on knowing and managing the risks in your business, and Patrick Paluga, Allied Biohazard, presented on trauma cleaning.

The show hall then opened for the afternoon, while also featuring the hands-on segments of water damage restoration, rug cleaning and upholstery cleaning. On Day 1, I took in the water damage restoration segment at the flood house and on Day 2, I watched the rug cleaning portion, which was moderated by ICS columnist Jeff Bishop. Using the rug washing pit, Bishop demonstrated the different technologies to wash rugs, extract and dry rugs and also to groom rugs.

The trade show on Day 2 also featured the cleaning competition, which is always a hit. The competition pits two teams against each other, who must vacuum, clean and groom a section of carpet before the other one. Oh, and one of the cleaners must be blindfolded. Always a good time.

Today, The Experience ends. As a reminder, the fall show, The Experience Convention and Trade Show will take place from September 3-5 at a new Las Vegas location – the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Next year’s 2015 Experience spring show is expected to return to Clearwater Beach, FL. Stay tuned for an official announcement.
